Yesterday's forecast largely spared the airport from significant precipitation. More of a rain/sleet wintery mix. Not the 2-4" + 1/2" of ice that has fallen this morning. They would have been able to handle what was forecast with some mild-moderate delays. Instead, it was so heavy that they were at low-IFR conditions and were unable to deice fast enough to get the departing flights out.
We'll see what happens with the midday reset attempt. All of the runways remain closed while they try to clear the snow and ice. The precipitation at my home is currently minimal freezing rain, so one would hope the early afternoon bank of flight would be able to get out of here.
