I just want to add that rip-offs come in the form of incorrect change back to include phony counterfiet bills, or they telling you that you gave them a counterfeit bill and show you a fake one they carry around for that purpose and want you to pay again or kick you out. There's other scenarios, but don't get a taxi and you won't have to deal with it. And this is not just in Mexico, but in every country I've visited. They all got a scam going on one way or the another. I only get official taxis, Uber, or shuttle transfers to avoid any issues.
