Nice hotel, bad location

This property has only been a Marriott for maybe a year or two. Not sure what it was prior to that. The hotel itself was, in my opinion, up to usual Marriott standards, but it suffers from being in a rather unsavory location. There was a lot of street noise in the evening (primarily people with nothing better to do than drive up and down the street blasting their radios with as much bass as possible). Also, there are some restaurants in walking distance, but I'd feel uncomfortable walking around after dark.

If you're looking for a Marriott property and will have a car, I would recommend the Trumbull Marriott, about 15 miles to the west. You can be in downtown New Haven in under 30 minutes during the morning rush. If you must stay close to Yale, I have heard good things about the Omni New Haven, though I haven't stayed there personally. At least with this, you are in a full-service hotel, and don't have to worry about venturing out to eat in the evening if you are not comfortable doing so.
