Same day standby question

Hi everyone! I have a flight with Southwest which I checked in for, and tried to list myself on an earlier flight for same day standby. I have done it once before and was able to view the standby list via the SW app. This time however, I got this message:

”Airport check in required.Unable to complete the check in process. Please visit a ticket counter to check in.”

I can’t view the same day standby nor confirm if I am on the same day standby list. The earlier flight does show up on my app, listed as “1 passenger, Unavailable”, along with my original flight, listed as “1 passenger, Wanna Get Away” along with the boarding pass for my original flight.

I am curious if anyone else has gotten this “airport check in required” message after attempting to do a same day standby. The messaging is a bit wonky because I technically did check in…(since you need to check in first to even do standby as an option). 🥲

curious what others experiences have been!
