Obviously too bad they did not want to book you on Emirates but such restrictions of rebooking to a non partner airline often play a role in such situations.
For a refund, at best they will pay the difference between RUN-MRU and your original ticket, which may be small.
I was not rebooked automatically and I also notified Air Mauritius agent that I will not be taking next day flight, so there is no “no show” case. I requested and received a printout with cancelled reservation when I spoke to Air Mauritius agent, because I knew there could be problems getting refund.
I think I am entitled to full refund, not the difference between RUN-MRU flown, but even if they offer difference it would be fine, because even most expensive RUN-MRU tickets are very cheap cheap compared to my original KUL fare.
I also purchased upgrade on MRU-KUL segment which they also refuse to refund

.
Emirates is a partner of Air Mauritius, both mileage and code sharing. MK is selling Emirates MRU-DXB
under MK flight number. They just did not want to bother rebooking and lied to me that Emirates was fully booked. They refused to call or walk together to Emirates counter which was 20 meters away.
