This is a review after ~25 nights here in 2024, split up to multiple trips of 3/4 nights each time (both with and without kids). Feel free to Ask me anything! =D
What’s great:
- we especially appreciate how our children (2 and 4 years old) were warmly interacted with by the staff in the executive lounge! I'm sure appreciated the kids appreciated and looked forward to the interactions with the lovely staff.
- the central location that connects to Big C, Centralworld and Siam Paragon via an overhead covered walkway. Baby strollers can easily be wheeled to the abovementioned landmarks via the lift (level 3) at the Maneeya Center.
- slightly heated indoor pool that is always at a great temperature to swim in all times of the day
- how sincerely and quickly they acted on feedback (elaborated in following paragraph)
In April, I posted google and tripadvisor reviews about how the spread of food at the executive lounge in the evening was mostly spicy, which while expected in thailand, but it reduced the spread that me and my young ones could eat =D By July, the evening canapes had rotated to a new menu - we were thrilled that the spicy condiments for each dish are now served on the side. I made sure to express my delight and praise the Executive Chef in person at a subsequent trip – now that the revised dinner menu at the lounge is now friendly to us who cannot stomach spicy food!
During one of the stays, our 4 year old was treated as a special guest by the Executive Chef – when we told him that she enjoyed the pasta dish that we had during our previous stay, he personally whipped up a spaghetti dish for her on the spot!
At breakfast each morning and sometimes in the lounge, I'd see the executive chef making his rounds. Never have I seen another exec chef patrol and inspect so often and regularly. On days he is on leave, the sous chef does the same. While the breakfast buffet spread is reasonably wide, you'd start to get bored on longer stays as the menu doesnt rotate much day to day. The hot noodle section is often the highlight on most days being the standout dish. It was however annoying that the fresh juicer isnt rinsed or cleaned in between orders; I'd have funky tastes in my watermelon or orange juice so eventually I just gave up and stuck to the fresh coconuts. Also the pastries unfortunately aren’t this hotel’s strong suit, lacking in freshness and “buttery-ness” (W bangkok's pastries are far superior)
Other suggestions for improvement:
· Hope that the towels were not so thin, and were thicker/more luxurious; it’s great in saving water and the environment but it lacks a bit of pampering us guests... =D
· We requested for an air purifier and to our horror, cigarette smoke was spewing out of it - we wished that they had aired it properly before lending it to us!
· Bedside electrical points in the junior suites have been renewed to be USB only, creates a headache for people who may need a power socket (eg. For CPAP machine that aids sleep for those with sleep apnea) – perhaps a hybrid power socket with both power sockets and USB ports would be a better choice
p.s. although PE+ get choice of breakfast at lounge or restaurant, this is one of the hardest hotels to get a room upgrade at (unless you are using your SNA).
