Guess chalk it up to life lessons for the frequent fliers:
1. Most companies don't survive that long to honor lifetime programs that take 20-30 years to achieve. Lifetime warranties on products? As good as the company's survival. If they do survive, changes will happen as the ball has been passed through many hands/economies that will adjust T&Cs of such programs to align with their goals/visions.
2. Airline/Hotel points never go up in value, and only undergoes inflation with time. Use it, don't save it.
3. Loyalty is a one way street, no matter how financially invested you are with an airline. Don't be emotionally attached to a product.
