Curious, but is the 2B>2B Flight Connections facility ever open? I don’t think I have ever seen it in use, but it is clearly signed there. It certainly would make lounge options more feasible in a situation like this.

Correct. It is open very infrequently, and when open, is limited to those connecting to the flights posted on the monitor.
The couple times I was connecting onto Thai Airways, it was not listed on the monitor and I was denied using it.
