I am finally back home, been missing for a bit, as the internet access was spotty, then had trouble uploading photos. So I will try to complete the report now:
First port stop was Punta Arenas, Chile. We wanted to see the magellan penguins on the Magdalena Island. Unfortunately, the excursions offered by Princess, and some of the 3rd party tour operators were sold out of the catamaran/powerboat to Magdalena Island. Some further research, I found there was a public/government ferry that goes to the island once a day at 9:30am and return at noon. That scheduled worked perfectly for us. The best was the cost of the ferry was only $85 a person, as compared to the >$400 with the tour operators.
What a beautiful day of penguin watching, they are so adorable. Even though there are ropes that indicate where we should not enter, but that did not stop the penguins from walking into our paths
