I've thought about this length, as I am not LHR based (or UK based), but go to London quite often in CE.
Self-funded, not on the employers dime. Often cash not Avios, booked around a month or two in advance.
Probably in the category of customer BA has targeted with these changes as possibly getting Silver too easily, especially when compared to the equivalent with Swiss/M&M which definitely requires more spend than BA.

My options to London are either BA, easyJet, Ryanair or Swiss.
And tbh, I think I'd still pick BA CE over the other options.

I'd pick BA/Swiss over LCCs as there are so many options in their schedules.
If there is cancellation, I have so many rebooking options. With BA if Basel is full, they can put me on the next Zurich flight.
When I last booked with BAH and my flight was cancelled, the duty officer offered me a KLM flight which was very impressive.

I value this flexibility a lot as I need to be places without excessive delay, but accept the nature of operational issues and weather can put a spanner in the works.
I cannot afford to be stranded in London more than I need to, so I prioritise schedule.
Ryanair don't have a tonne of options to Switzerland, and EasyJet has a presence of course but sometimes I find easyJet with the add-ons to be not far off in terms of price as CE sometimes!

easyJet Plus its a tempting proposition and I'd definitely get my monies worth, but...
Despite being affected by the BAC changes, I'd still pay for CE as I value shoulder space and the free middle seat is valuable. I don't travel light, so I value the 2x 32kg bags.
When the curtains are closed (when fitted!) and the lights are down, I genuinely feel relaxed on-board. It's a moment of peace for me, in what is otherwise a chaotic schedule. And I'd pay for even 1-2 hours of peace and quiet. ET or an LCC's onboard environment isn't what I would call relaxing in terms of lighting, and seating density.

My main takeaway from all this talk of unbundling CE and the future of CE is everyone has very different needs for what they perceive as value from CE.
It would be shame to unbundle as I like the ease of booking without being vigilant to a million upsells. I value not having to use my brain much, and BA EC helps with that a lot.

So why not Swiss? When I land late at night, Zurich is further from where I live and I want to get home quickly haha
