Yes - hence the cancellation. They were very nice about it, indeed saw 4 people on the reservation when "blocking" my room (3 days out) and were being proactive in changing my room type for me. Unfortunately they are now on "Special Event" rates for this weekend and sold out of regular King rooms. (This is a hotel I have a long relationship with and will return.) Fortunately when "road tripping" this time of year I frequently have back-up reservations for weather and was able to pivot, although not due to weather this time.
I have over a dozen reservations in the next few weeks and the only ones having problems are those at full-service properties - in this case 2 Marriotts (now 1) and a Sheraton. The remaining two are still showing a King room. All the Fairfields, Springhills, etc. seem unaffected.
