I’m a bit late to the party here, but if you do struggle to get the seats you want on the BA flights it’s worth considering Iberia as they have a more extensive network to South America and you can also use your companion vouchers on Iberia routes as long as you book through BA. You would have to fly via MAD, but If you’re willing to start your flights there the taxes payable are much less.
Thanks - yes via Mad and onwards on Iberia is a backup option for us. With extensive flying in South America we would prefer the direct route at the start and end of the journey.
