Interesting strategy, and not one that has worked for me. That lower price ($61 in this case) certainly indicates high chances of an upgrade until people start jumping all over the offer and next thing you know, it's J4 with 10 days to go.
I think it's definitely route-dependent. But there are so many of these PWM legs that actually fly out with empty seats up front and zero on the waitlist (meaning zero elites in the back, even when it's full or nearly full in the back) that I am comfortable with it on this sector.
