RE GRU ORD comments:
Thank you folks for sharing your insights on the meal pecking order regarding airline status and meal choices. I erroneously thought that seat location was also part of the equation as I think it is on AA. TBH, even in Business class, the main meal portions are often on par with a better quality frozen meal from the supermarket in terms of taste. Meat portions are larger on the plane vs frozen meals. Salads are usually nice on the plane. I did not call the purser, but likely should have given how nasty the main meat dish was. I was offered the ice cream dessert and agree that nothing beats a Hot Fudge topping and this has been missing on UA for a long time. However, never offered an after dinner drink, LOL. Somewhere, someone had mentioned that the food at the ORD C10 regular UA lounge is on par with the Polaris Lounge. I disagree. Much nicer and for me better choices at P L or AMEX lounges. I will admit that portion sizes for the ordered dishes at P L are small. But one can always order more. The P L mixed drinks tend to be quite nice too. I sent an email to customer care at UA a few days ago regarding the flight issues and the closure of the Polaris Club at ORD for which I received no prior notification. Just received my reply - an offer of a $100 travel certificate. The certificate was not included in the email (update: came to a different email address a bit later). And so it goes.... From NOLA with love.
