Confirm that F&B spending without a stay doesn't post towards Ambassador earnings in reality as well - as I did pay attention to this last year, per the T&Cs quoted by 1200GS . In the case of particularly high spend I found it useful to just book a night at the hotel and then charge to the room, you typically earn more points this way at a full service hotel as well (10 points per dollar rather than 5 with outside F&B spend), that can somewhat offset the hotel cost too.
