I've had some conflicting experiences with QR regarding seat selection. In the past whenever I've booked business class award tickets (via QR directly), I have been able to select seats for free. I have heard however from others where QR charges something like 100USD but that was never my experience. Then recently again I booked a short haul economy award ticket via AA on QR metal. I was able to select "extra legroom" seats for free for the two of us. A few days later I book the same itinerary also via AA but this time QR is asking for cash to be able to select any seat at all. Does anyone know why this might be? This specific booking is for an adult + an infant (but the infant is booked on adult fare as AA is unable to book infant ticket on QR directly).
