Just completed 4 nights at GSY (we were at the Churchill the prior 4 nights and GSY is a clear winner for the quality and uniqueness of the experience btw) and we all loved it. Even as a Globalist there were no upgrades available and both our rooms were really small. But that's the only negative on the entire stay. Wonderful staff, outstanding breakfast, fun to walk out and be so close to Big Ben, Westminster and so many other places.
A couple of Suggestions if you stay here:
- Cross the pedestrian bridge to the other side (so over to the London Eye side) but instead of going towards the Eye (or after) walk in the other direction all the way to London Bridge and then back over it and back (the rest of my family then took a bus home, I walked - we both got home around 40 mins. later). Wonderful way to experience London at your own pace.
- Tube: Instead of exiting at Charing Cross, get off at Embankment - it is actually a much simpler and probably shorter walk back to the hotel (cross the street, walk past the Corinthia Hotel and peek in - it is gorgeous, and then cut across the side street and you are basically home; with no crazy traffic and no hordes).
After this experience, now I want to really see if we can stay at the Hotel Martinez
