Obviously, we all here do love or at least like IHG enough to try and stay 40 nights a year. The cheapest IHG hotels I’ve seen are in Jakarta and middle of no where Mexico. Unless it’s for work..only a very small % of people are going to fly there just to take advantage of free nights. That’s a lot of expensive flights, vacation days, and time just to pay 1,600-2,000 usd (minus flights) for a lounge pass. On top of that, you’d need to pay more money and allocate more time to fly elsewhere just to take advantage of the pass. This is already on top of the more popular chains.
2022- 2 years ago, i got 40 nights just by award night. (ended up with 86 nights due to the promo 2 nights 10k points and i had 24 nights under that deal)

2024, i luckily got the double elite night in oct. and i had 19 nights (18 award and 1 paid of a cheap hotel in TSN). i did 7 nights in CGK (need 1000 points bonus point to ensure it is over 30 USD per night) while I did my SK eurobonus millionmiles promo (GA is in skyteam). and then did 4 more nights in CP Zhongshan during cyber monday sale for 220 USD . my cash outlay for the year is less than 500 USD for the lounge pass.
it is costing far more than my spent at marriott and hyatt.
marriot spent is 30 credit card 11 award night, 1 amex fhr, 1 paid + 1 bonus + FNC (total 50)
hyatt 2 paid nights and the rest are guest of honors credit card, and award total 60
