IDCAflyer- That is correct!
Let's say your going to from Miami to Vegas via DFW.:
- Flight #1 MIA - DFW 5:49 pm -> 8:20pm
- Flight #2 DFW - LAS 9:14pm -> 10:10pm
Then flight #1 is delayed
(5 hours) and you miss the last DFW - LAS flight:
- Delayed Flight #1 MIA - DFW 10:49 pm -> 1:20am
- Force overnight at DFW
- Rebooked Flight #2 DFW - LAS 7:14am -> 8:10am (the next day)
Let's calculated the delay to see if it is covered by "trip" delay insurance:- 10 Hours is the total trip delay (10:10pm ->8:10am) -Doesn't matter
- 5 Hours is the single segment delay (5:29pm -> 10:49pm) . - not covered
It is very misleading when they advertising their "trip" delay insurance as a benefit on a $600/yr premium card.
In the fine print, you are only protected it the flight is (A) canceled or (B) have a segment delay over 6 hours and they don't calculate any missed connections associated with your scheduled trip.
