Since this usually doesn't happen you will see a lot of folks on FT who have high status with hotel chains prefer to use a car booking to make a BAH rather than a hotel booking. They value the perks like substantial room upgrades, free breakfast, lounge access etc when they book the hotel direct.
In the new world there is now very little benefit in doing this as it no longer doubles your TPs.
