The answer is that it is mixed and scheme/property dependent. Starting point is no and I wouldn't assume you will, and I've never seen you earn points on a stay personally. I
have however had status benefits awarded both at Hiltons and IHG properties quite frequently on BAH bookings. I've also had qualifying nights awarded at IHG towards milestone rewards etc.
