Guide: CITI Trip Delay Insurance

I thought I post this guide from my experiences this past year, for any future claim you might have with your AA Advantage Citibank Executive Platinum MasterCard.

(A) Get official documentation for the reason the flight was delayed:
  1. Immediately go on AA.com and request an official reason for the delayed.
  2. This is the email take 1-2 weeks and is required by CITI insurance's company Virginia Surety.
  3. Go to this site: https://www.aa.com/contact/forms?topic=CR#/
  4. Pick topic: Trip Insurance verification
  5. Pick Subject: Verify Flight Delay

(B) Make a Claim with directly with AA (before filing with insurance):
  1. You need to submit a refund expense claim to AA
  2. Insurance with auto-decline without an email with any expenses paid/denied by AA
  3. If AA give you $150, this will subtracted from any amount the insurance "may" cover
  4. Go to this site: https://www.aa.com/i18n/customer-ser...nd-refunds.jsp
  5. Select: Request a refund

(C) File your Trip Insurance Claim:
  1. Go to: https://www.mybenefits.cardbenefitclaims.com/
  2. Enter all your info
  3. upload all expenses receipts
  4. upload all plane ticket invoices
  5. upload AA official email stating the reason for the delay
  6. upload AA official email with any costs covered (or not) by AA

GOOD -LUCK!!!!!!

Additionally:

- Trip Insurance will be denied- if one of your "segment flights" that caused the delay is not over 6 hours late.
  • Read the fine print, as the insurance policy may not cover the whole trip.
  • Missed connections don't count, even with a forced overnight stay, unless that flight that caused the missed connection was more then 6 hours delayed.
