FT is not the typical flying community; people just want to get from point A to B the cheapest and fastest way possible.
But if it did not matter, if it was all about getting from A to B as fast and cheap as possible, why would airlines go through all the faff of offering an FFP in the first place? Sure, even if the BAEC changes were a complete disaster, it does not mean that BA will be running empty planes tomorrow (and I don't think that anybody is seriously arguing that anyway) but that does not mean that it is insignificant and without consequences on the bottomline.
