Yet I recognized that during that same week, equal or better quality hotels were available in Tokyo in the $325 range.
Then a friend mentioned check out the Conrad, which I hadn't done since I assumed the number of Points needed would dwarf the Hilton. We'll I was wrong, and the Conrad was a total of 400,000. That became in my mind an aspirational redemption, as the Tokyo Conrad clearly is a superior property vs the Hilton, and the cheapest cash rate that week is $725/night.
Hi,
I think at the entry rate ( 100k points per night) the conrad tokyo is better value than the Hilton ( even if the hilton is 75-80k per night) assuming the different locations do not have much impact Although at some days in may the cheapest conrad rate is 307 k per night so it pays to shop around. I think even if you get the base entry room at the conrad ( ie no upgrades ) you will be at least on floor 30 whereas with no upgrade you are likely to be on a lower floor at the hilton
Looking at Japan in May and in osaka the new Waldorf Astoria is the same price as the Conrad ( 100k pn) with the Canopy at 80k so might try the WA ( even though it does not have a executive lounge) and go for 5 nights ( 5 for4 ) as may go to the Expo 2025 in osaka staring in april
