I have a long layover in Johannesburg week after next and need to book a hotel and make plans (solo female.) I arrive from the US at 7pm and leave for Harare at 10:30 am. I'd like to be able to relax, get a bite and a good nights sleep, and possibly a swim or workout. Which hotel would you recommend. I will be out in the bush for a few weeks so would love a last bit of hotel comforts!
In November 2024 we stayed 1 night at the Garden Court Hotel during a layover. This is reachable via a free shuttle bus provided by the hotel but I would not recommend staying there, it is a bit grim, needs updating and a bit of a dive. We ate a sort of snack/dinner in the "Irish" pub onsite but didn't bother with the inclusive breakfast. Not sure of gym facilities but it does have a pool. Try the Southern Sun OR Tambo instead, not been there but the outside looks more welcoming.
