It would explain why agent is seeing a completely different seat map than you. I know that they do block out certain seats as well for minors...exit rows, at least. I suspect you know that and are not in an exit row?
Yes. Absolutely same flights and not in exit row. Agent can see us in our seats 33A/C but says 33B is taken. But 33B shows open to us and I can move one of us into and out of it. I think agent is seeing a seat map showing seats restricted to unaccompanied minors when they look at our granddaughters reservation. She’s accompanied but we have a different booking.
