Think like a FlyerTalker. There's an arbitrage opportunity, assuming the price is right. I remember Hertz and National doing something similar a few summers ago. Too many people were using free days to snag a nice car from a NYC airport, then one-way it to a Manhattan store, at a time of the week when neighborhood demand is low. The result was a separately itemized $150 "drop fee" that wouldn't go away even with a free day.
