It does matter. If your first leg is operated by an airline other than AC, you won't be doing OLCI with AC. If you're flying out of an airport where AC flies 3x weekly, you're much less likely to encounter knowledgeable/skilled AC staff than if you're at LHR, where AC runs a ton of flights. And what the app or a staffer might offer for connections may differ depending on where your connections and overnight currently are.
If you want to keep being vague, the only possible answer to your questions is an equally vague "maybe".
