A family member just shared with me an email about their AA miles about to expire on Feb 1. I walked them through the shopping portal and we placed an order with Bed Bath and Beyond. I haven't used it in awhile, how long would you expect it to take for points to show up from that (assuming they do)?
If they don't show up in time (or at all) is donating 1000 miles through "Miles for Our Social Good" also a valid way to reset the 24 month clock? And will that one take effect immediately? I'm wondering if the BBB shopping miles don't post by Jan 30 or so if I could just have them go to the Donation page and donate miles.

Any activity does reset the clock. I'd also expect any deduction to be near immediate, whereas additions can drag. I BELIEVE the additions should post back to the original transaction date when they do post, but I prefer safe and immediate to potential battles later.
