I don't agree with that, to purposely hold down the quality of a hotel, in order to keep the prices down. For sure, there is a market for lesser quality and unrenovated properties, to help maintain a better price. But, if that's the case, maybe it should be reflagged to a lesser brand. There needs to be brand standards, and if what somebody is looking for is a unrenovated and poorly operated hotel at a cheaper price, then I would say, give it a brand to match. If Sofitel is supposed to be a higher end experience, then make sure the property reflects that. Basically, upgrade it and fix it, or deflag it. Otherwise, you further cheapen the brand. It's not like Accor doesn't have 5 dozen other brands they could change it to, to find one that fits the product, if that is ultimately the decision.
