I'm Platinum for life and just had a strange experience with the JW Riverside. Has anyone had a similar experience at any JW property? This weekend I made a reservation for one night in May, it was nopt a pre-paid reservation, rather Gov/Mil rate. Yet the hotel charged me one night's base charge even though the reservation said can cancel up to 3 days in advance of arrival. When I finally got through to the hotel (central guest services gets all calls to the hotel's main number) the desk clerk said this is standard practice and if I read the details of the rate info at time of booking I would see this. She said it is standard Marriott practice; she worked at 3 properties in the past 10 years. I told her in my 20 years of staying at all different levels of Marriott I have NEVER had a room charge in advance like this.
