I’m 100K, my wife is Gold, and a family relative has no status with Alaska. He is coming to visit and would like to go to Alaska as a trip inside his California stay with us, and I figured that I’ll use a companion ticket for him.
It is now occuring to me that a companion ticket is for two people only, not for say three, which makes the whole thing fall apart, because how can all three of us benefit from my 100K status?
We can let my wife make her own reservation, and while she can’t get Premium right then, her Gold status allows her to be put on the upgrade list. But not particulary ideal for everyone potentially in First.
Then I thought it could be nice tagging on SFO-ORD for the companion deal, but that would be her and not him going there with me.
Using miles rather than a companion ticket might also accomplish an SFO stopover. But again, he is not going to ORD.
Not sure what to do.
