It still causes me concern that corporations expect passengers to email copies of government ID and other important documents by email.
  • Email cannot be considered to be secure and encrypted end to end, it might be, but there's a good chance it might not
  • Invariably you then reply to a shared mailbox where multiple people have access
  • You can probably assume that any data retention in the mailbox is probably a secondary thought and there's probably no proactive deletion of received emails
  • A better way would be to ask you to update a ticket where at least the upload is encrypted end to end, and there's a little more chance that there could be some data retention rules built in.
It's all very suboptimal that they think they need to see government ID in the first place to resolve a query like this.
