You do NOT need to book a non refundable rate. This screenshot was your booking where unfortunately you were charged a deposit by the hotel but the other screenshot is how it n your post shows whether you’ll get charged by Amex which is how it normally works.
i think theres some confusion here. let me try to clarify:
- ALL of my
non-refundable bookings on 12/31 worked just fine. charges posted. got FHR credit. this is what i always try to pick to ensure charges post ASAP.
- everything else that did not work, were still PAY NOW DUE TODAY (not pay hotel) but included flexible cancellation rates. this totally messed things up.
i was never charged by anyone until i got to hotel.
- depo by hotel was never charged like others experienced even tho rate said i would PAY NOW DUE NOW.
- yes. u are correct. in the past, u do NOT need to book non-refundable. but due to this YMMV headache, i am simply saying im using the non-refund strategy to avoid this headache.
- not sure wat u mean by amex fixed it. how do u know? its too soon to tell.
