American Airlines executive platinum here. Booked an economy flight from Philly to Doha (2 day layover) to Kuala Lumpur with AA, but Qatar will operate the Doha to Malaysia leg.
- I assume they'll give me access to the emerald lounges but not the ones that are Qatar airways business/first exclusive?
- I submitted a miles and cash upgrade request for the Philly Doha leg and expect it'll clear. Does that affect the above?
- Does Qatar offer any upgrades to their legs that are connected to an AA flight and the monies originally paid to AA? If so how/when/where? I'd love to use miles or cash rather than be smashed in economy for 8ish hours.

You can access the Platinum South lounge, or the Gold and Platinum north lounge.
Upgrade to the Philly Doha leg will not change anything in terms of lounges for the Doha Malaysia leg.
If your flight booking from Doha has a QR flight number, you can go to the counter in Doha and ask for a quote for a upgrade. This will also not affect your lounge selection if successful.
