Why is GoJet(G7)'s inflight service so much better? Will SkyWest(OO)'s CRJ550s match?
I am consistently surprised and impressed with the level of in-flight service that GoJet (G7) manages to provide relative not only to other UAX carriers but even mainline.
E.g. on a flight barely over a half hour wheels up to wheels down, with one FA, they consistently pull off a full beverage service, offer a "artisanal cheese" thing (plate? Assortment?) AND the more common snack basket -- to which multiple FAs have made clear it is Cheese+Snack, not cheese OR snack.
So far as I can tell this is not flight attendants going rogue or above and beyond but rather a service standard because it is very consistent... Compared to other UAX operator like YV or YX where I have never seen the cheese assortment and on an hour wheels up to wheels down you're lucky to get a beverage, and the snack basket is an elusive, possibly endangered, species. Similarly, on a route like Cleveland to Chicago, which is perhaps my most common mainline experience, the snack basket is at best 50/50.
The snack basket alone I could write off to flight attendant performance, but since the cheese doesn't seem to exist anywhere else, that seems to be something from higher in the food chain... But I doubt G7 would do it if they weren't getting paid for it, but if G7 is getting paid for it why not the other carriers?
I was also thinking as I was scarfing down a banana trying to make sure I was ready for the flight attendant to secure the cabin... I believe SkyWest (OO) will be also flying 550s under the UAX banner in the near future (already?) -- will they match the level of service I've come to expect from UA' CRJ550s or will I need to pay attention to but just the aircraft type but operator?
Very much first class first world problems but not being boujie the snack basket is the way to me heart (and sometimes my only meal of the day :/)
