I just breezed through this thread and found it to be very amusing...everyone has a story...some weaker than others...my favourite 'I've been dealing with "LIFE ISSUES" and as a result haven't been traveling'...that's right up there with Marriott didn't tell me my points were expiring so they have to give them back, and 'my Dad isn't very good at Loyalty Programs...SMH...
The program has rules, T's&C's which they publish/update every month, that's the way the program works. I don't get all the people that don't pay attention, let their points expire, and then it's Marriott's problem. There are so many easy ways to extend your points expiry that I have no sympathy for those who come back after the fact, especially in the most entitled way, expecting that the rules shouldn't apply to them.
