Hertz took 39888 points from me as supposedly expired. This, just two weeks after a Hertz rep on Twitter affirmed that I had no points at risk of expiring in the coming months. I expect that they'll restore the points when pressed. But what a waste of time this company is. Wish it were easier to redeem my balance down to zero and of course never rent from Hertz again.
Meanwhile the 39888 number is definitely NOT the number of points I earned >5 years ago. That's 99% of my balance, but I had plenty of points-earning rentals within the last 5 years.
I just went through a similar thing, but based on when they did it, it was from 12-months of inactivity. Although I had a rental a week prior just to keep activity on my account. Took me 2.5 weeks of correspondence with them before they restored my points, and then another day of back and forth messages to clarify that re-instated points will expire in 6 months of inactivity (not 12-months).
