If you could make use of these benefits and are flying on an international economy ticket, it would be worth it. Say CDG-LHR-JFK-final destination - three lounge visits, 3 bags, main cabin extra seats if available.
Even domestically for a group or family with a lot of luggage, it could be worth it.
Have AA/Hyatt released details on how the process works with the redemptions? Do I redeem the points after booking or on the day of departure? Securing a seat in the main cabin at the time of booking would be important.
