I'm pretty sure that's not how AS's free stopover policy works. The free stopover policy is that booking SFO-TPE-HKG (with same day transfer) would be the same price as (maybe bar some tax difference?) booking multi-city SFO-TPE (stop at TPE for a few days then) TPE-HKG on a single ticket
