They have intentionally done this and I am unwilling to spend 25% more to retain GGL. I will still fly BA when it is appropriate but it's how I am treated that matters to me and BA First is a glorified business.
I know I'll use Cathay to HK, maybe Emirates to Dubai (I need to check this) and AF, L or Swiss for NYC (TBD).
If what you like about BA is the crew, you should definitely try EK F. To me, it’s not like QR and other robo-airlines in the Middle East, since living in Dubai is a pull in itself and they pay well they get really good crew. I’m on EK373 in F at the moment and the crew member is from Manchester and it’s basically BA F in terms of crew interaction, but the crew have an actual first class product to offer and I don’t feel like I’m being taken for an idiot by management.
