Interesting (and sorry for your luck). Fyi there have been occasional "card shortages" reported in the Surpass thread over the past year, though they have been generally resolved within a few weeks. They were apparently not anticipating a spike in purchases due to the new Business Platinum credit. It will be interesting to see whether this development will cause Amex or Hilton to re-evaluate credits for gift cards purchased in this manner -- my personal guess is no, but we shall see.
Fwiw, I have updated the wiki with some information about the history of this credit on the Surpass card and provided a link to the Surpass thread in the Hilton forum, which contains plenty of datapoints that appear (so far) to be equally relevant for the Business Platinum credit. It's worth a skim as there are other issues regarding application of the credit that may be of interest to those here.
