I'd go for it, even with the middle seat. The recline itself is worth spending every penny !!!!! On a 10 hrs. flight, the recline is soo good (and, yes, the recline is better than f/c domestic seats!) and the pillow is much better than in regular economy. Most people don't really go for airplane food. They pay for conveniences and comfort. Also, you won't be running out of overhead bins since you'll be boarding first after D1.
