If you are AY gold, you are limited on converting avios to TPs based on your current level. 22.5k ?
Also, depending on your DONE3 ticket, adding BA and IB codeshares will almost certainly drive up your price with their awful fuel surcharges.
Not sure what your options are but if you are going to invest in a DONEx ticket ($5500+), I think you are better off going for platinum each year instead of plat then gold soft landing.
Just a suggestion.
Ultimately, if gold is what you are going for, the AY spend required isn't that much different and certainly more convenient from a scheduling perspective.
