A practical problem with the change is that, over time, the targets will get distorted by inflation and changes in exchange rates. It would have been better to follow the Avios route and base tier points on fare code which would have allowed BA to be more pragmatic when deciding the benefit difference between highest and lowest fares. Also it would have avoided the need for a different system when BA do not know the fare. BAH bookings could have a boost, less than double I would have suggested.
