The competitive response is just about to begin since everyone else was away over NY no doubt, the airline industry is one of the most cut throat there is. I’m guessing there’ll be status matches targeting all the profitable customers apparently BA doesn’t want soon. Someone like EK might be smart and try to finish BA off on DXB by, say, offering matches to anyone who has flown a cash ticket on BA to Dubai in the last 12 months. UA and DL are no doubt ready to pounce on all the customers spending £18K a year flying to the US in J that BA no longer wants as Gold, I’m sure. Let’s hope for BA’s sake those here who are so sure BA has read the data correctly are right…
And for those of us who live north of the Watford Gap a stop in DXB or DOH is just as convenient (and a better experience?) than a stop in LHR .
