I have tried a few out dates to find a direct flight in their system but don’t see anything popping up (just the route with a stop in Guam that has been around for years ).

Does anyone happen to have info on this? Don’t know if it got held up for regulatory reasons or if they don’t think the demand will be there without massively cannibalizing the GUM-ROR route .

I just flew the GUM-ROR-MNL flight New Year's Eve on an award. The first segment had some empty seats; the second was close to full.

This sort of lengthy delay in loading new schedules is routine for new NRT flights. The same thing happened with Cebu (CEB).

The target market for NRT-ROR tourism to Palau would seem to be the U.S. mainland. Until SFO-GUM service is implemented, if ever, the new NRT route would not detract from service through Guam. Yes, the nonstop is more convenient for Japanese tourists, too, which would indeed have some effect on GUM-ROR.

Surely United ran the numbers before making the decision. There is no reason for second-guessing now, and no change to the factors included in the original analysis.
