No, they don't have access to such data. Even if they did, they would have no way of knowing that you actually have the merchandise. You could have left it behind in the country of purchase, gifted or sold it to someone before leaving, etc.

With that said, it is a foolish thing to lie on a customs declaration. I would recommend declaring it, Customs will probably not bother about assessing duty for it and will just wave you through.
