Just to complete the trip from yesterday, I took the train back from Barnetby-le-Wold via Doncaster and Stevenage, rather than fly back to AMS and home that way. This was because of the slightly more complex childcare arrangements, but it worked very nicely. Trains are essentially just low flying aircraft after all, and I enjoyed the LNER delivery of a bacon roll and coffee via QR code. I had a very smooth routing and was home early afternoon.

Then into planning details of the Peru/Mexico trip, which is now I think completely ticketed though there was a snafu with charges for Master BR who ended up with an adult fare. That's being sorted out. I was pleased to find I could book LATAM for the flight from Lima to Cancun using Avios, not least because it flexes the day and gives me a checked bag each. I grabbed a day in the middle, and another GGL perk I'll miss called into play as I could cancel or move it free. I also noted that a 1h35 connection at JFK between AA from Mexico and BA to LHR might be a tad on the tight side, but I was cheered to find the flight in question tends to come in early, and anyway I'd applied for GE for the boy on Christmas Eve, had UK approval the same day (had to pay £42) and conditional approval from the US yesterday. Very impressive. I'll have to do an interview on arrival in Miami on the way out, but if we stick to hand baggage we should be ok. One ticket anyway. In the new world I'd just have taken the MEX to LHR flight, which would have been a lot easier really.

Also cooking something quite exciting, but more of that if it comes off. It's spend moved from BA to *A, and quite a lot of it.
