Hypothetically a passenger is flying AF FLR-CDG, AF CDG-ATL, then DL ATL-BHM. Baggage doesn’t arrive in ATL when going through US Customs. Said passenger files the delayed baggage claim at BHM. Having AirTag tracking available to Delta would be of value, as the delayed baggage claim would be filed with the last segment operating carrier which would be Delta in this example. I do not believe that all SkyTeam partners are using RFID baggage tags such as Delta, as I agree with you that for a domestic itinerary Delta wouldn’t need air tag tracking info, but on a international itinerary with more than one operating carrier, especially for non-hub travelers, this would be valuable information. For the above example, is the baggage in FLR or CDG? SITA WorldTracer will be implementing Air Tag data.
